Swiss citizens are individuals who hold the nationality of Switzerland, either by birth, descent, or through the process of naturalization. Swiss citizenship grants the right to live, work, and vote in Switzerland, as well as access to Swiss consular protection abroad. Citizenship is regulated by Swiss federal law, and often involves both federal and cantonal (regional) requirements. Swiss citizens also benefit from holding a Swiss passport, which allows for visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to many countries worldwide.

What are the typical responsibilities and challenges faced by a Swiss citizen working in a professional environment in Switzerland?

As a Swiss citizen working in Switzerland, you can expect to be part of a collaborative and multicultural workplace, often with a strong emphasis on punctuality, precision, and clear communication. Common challenges include adapting to high standards of quality and efficiency, as well as navigating the country's multilingual environment, especially in roles that require interaction across different regions. Additionally, you may be expected to work within flat organizational structures that value consensus-building and teamwork. Understanding local business etiquette and being adaptable to diverse teams will help you thrive.

Job description

Own the setup. Elevate the run. Advance the mission.

At Filger Manufacturing, our precision parts power flight, enable care, and explore space. We’re searching for a Senior Swiss Turning Setup Expert to lead complex setups and production on STAR Swiss screw machines with Fanuc controls.

Your impact

Imagine bringing a new aerospace component online: you dissect the print and traveler, design the setup, machine the first article to +/- .0002, validate with CMM and gauges, and then steer a stable, efficient production run—adjusting offsets and refining code to keep parts perfect. You’ll do this routinely, with occasional programming of new parts (about 5–10 per year) in Mastercam or a comparable CAM package.

Core responsibilities
  • Independently set up and operate STAR Swiss CNC machines (Fanuc)
  • Drive jobs from setup and first article through full production
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and job travelers
  • Make offsets and program edits as conditions demand
  • Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, CMM equipment, gauges, and eye loupes
  • Troubleshoot issues across machine, tooling, programming, and quality
  • Train and oversee STAR machine operators; champion shop standards
  • Meet output targets while safeguarding quality; sustain a tidy, organized area
What sets you apart
  • 5+ years in CNC setup and operation
  • Direct Swiss-type experience (STAR, Citizen, Tsugami, or similar)
  • Fluency with Fanuc controls
  • History of complex setups and ultra-precise work to +/- .0002
  • Background in aerospace, medical, or other regulated precision environments
  • Self-sufficient in diagnosing and correcting setup, tooling, offset, programming, and quality issues
  • CNC programming capability; Mastercam experience is a plus, not a must
  • Exceptional blueprint reading and precision measurement skills
  • Comfort mentoring others on the floor
  • Physically able to lift to 50 lbs., stand for long stretches, and follow shop safety practices
Schedule and environment

Start time is 6:00 a.m.; overtime offered as workload requires. You’ll work on STAR Swiss screw machines using Fanuc controls in a clean, organized shop focused on continuous improvement.
