Job description

Are you ready to lead a small but fierce team of award-winning journalists in the heart of the Colorado Rockies? Do you have a proven track record of success and are ready to take the next step in your career, one that will take you up to 8,300 feet elevation and higher, covering a world-class ski resort, a mountain bike mecca and one of the most visited national parks in the nation? If so, we have the perfect job for you.

The Sky-Hi News is seeking an editor to lead its small newsroom. The ideal candidate will be a leader and a planner who knows how to strategize and execute a wide variety of content — from in-depth features to concise breaking news updates — working collaboratively with writers, designers and editors on coverage. We also need someone with a digital-first mindset who understands that if the website is strong, the print product will be, too.

We need more than a news nerd. Organization, planning and communication are critical skills, and juggling a variety of projects, people and interests is key to success in this role.

  • Demonstrate sound editorial judgment, including an understanding of institutional guidelines on ethics, tone and subject matter
  • Move quickly and be flexible in a changing, fast-paced digital environment

  • Availability to work some nights and weekends
  • Must have a current driver’s license or the ability to get one
