Job description
The Vice President, Corporate Strategy will play a central role in developing and shaping the League's long-term strategy and evaluating the opportunities, risks, and structural changes that may affect its future growth, competitive position, and long-term value creation.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Strategic Investments, the Vice President will manage and drive the League's long-range planning process and lead strategic work on the NFL's most important long-term business questions. The role will develop perspectives on the future of sports, media, technology, consumer behavior, and adjacent industries; translate those insights into implications for the League; and help senior leadership make informed choices regarding enterprise priorities, growth opportunities, and resource allocation.
The Vice President will also serve as an internal strategy advisor to business units and operating groups, leading selected engagements focused on complex business challenges and high-priority growth opportunities. The role will work closely with senior leadership, business unit leaders, Financial Planning & Analysis, Corporate Finance, and the 32 Equity strategic investments team.
Responsibilities
- Manage and drive the League's long-range planning process, working with the Senior Vice President, senior leadership, and business unit leaders to develop and refine enterprise priorities and strategic objectives.
- Lead forward-looking analysis on the opportunities, risks, and structural changes that may affect the League over the medium and long term.
- Assess trends across sports, media, technology, AI, consumer behavior, and adjacent industries, and translate them into clear strategic implications for the NFL.
- Identify and evaluate new growth platforms, business models, strategic partnerships, market opportunities, and other sources of long-term value creation.
- Develop scenarios, strategic frameworks, and decision materials that help senior leadership evaluate choices under uncertainty.
- Synthesize business unit strategies, financial plans, market developments, and enterprise priorities into a coherent long-range plan.
- Translate strategic direction into clear priorities, recommendations, and actionable plans.
- Prepare executive-ready presentations and recommendations for senior leadership and, as appropriate, ownership-facing audiences.
- Partner with Financial Planning & Analysis and Corporate Finance to connect strategic priorities with financial planning, investment decisions, and resource allocation.
- Establish approaches for assessing progress against enterprise priorities and major strategic initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to senior leadership and business unit leaders on high-priority business questions and enterprise challenges.
- Lead selected internal strategy engagements and cross-functional initiatives, structuring ambiguous problems, directing analysis, and developing practical recommendations.
- Evaluate new business opportunities, partnerships, growth platforms, and operating models, including the development of business cases and market assessments.
- Provide an independent enterprise perspective and help ensure that major initiatives and investments align with broader League priorities.
- Work closely with the 32 Equity team to identify and evaluate investment themes, market developments, and strategic opportunities relevant to the League.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of corporate strategy professionals, setting clear standards for analytical rigor, business judgment, and executive communication.
- Continuously improve the effectiveness, analytical rigor, and stakeholder engagement of the League's long-range planning and corporate strategy processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with MBA preferred and 12+ years of relevant experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning, management consulting, corporate development, finance, or a related field.Â
- Significant experience developing enterprise strategy, leading long-range planning, or addressing major growth and transformation questions within a complex organization.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a long-term strategic perspective and translate it into clear priorities, decisions, and actionable recommendations.
- Strong understanding of how market, competitive, technological, financial, and consumer developments affect enterprise strategy and long-term value creation.
- Exceptional strategic, analytical, and financial problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify the critical issues within complex and ambiguous situations.
- Experience advising senior executives and developing materials for executive leadership, boards, ownership groups, or other governance bodies.
- Proven ability to lead complex planning processes and cross-functional initiatives involving senior stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Strong intellectual curiosity and the ability to translate external trends and emerging developments into differentiated strategic insights.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills across functions, business units, and senior stakeholder groups.
- Experience managing and developing high-performing professionals.
- Unwavering commitment to ethical conduct, professionalism, and integrity.
Other Key Attributes and Characteristics
- Forward-looking strategic thinker with strong business judgment
- Financially and analytically rigorous
- Intellectually curious and externally oriented
- Executive presence and credibility
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills
- High-impact, low-ego collaborator
- Comfortable challenging assumptions and offering independent perspectives
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and competing priorities
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Commitment to valuing and respecting diversity in the workplace
Travel
