Opportunity Information
Sutter West Bay Medical Group (SWBMG) is seeking a motivated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Neurosurgery team in San Francisco, California. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with a highly collaborative and nationally recognized team of neurosurgeons and advanced practice clinicians providing high-quality inpatient care, with some outpatient exposure.
About the Opportunity
The selected NP/PA will play a vital role in managing hospitalized neurosurgery patients while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care coordination and exceptional patient outcomes. The position is primarily inpatient-focused, with opportunities to participate in outpatient activities for continuity of care and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive inpatient care, including daily rounds, progress notes, and discharge planning
  • Perform Emergency Department and inpatient consults, admissions, and discharges
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and radiologic studies
  • Field phone calls from acute care floors, inpatient nurses, therapists, and clinical care teams
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary care coordination and patient/family education
  • Communicate effectively with outpatient teams to ensure smooth transitions of care
  • Deliver care in alignment with clinical quality, safety, and experience metrics
  • Perform procedures within scope of practice as appropriate
  • Opportunity for first-assisting in the operating room as service needs permit

Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) program
LICENSURES & CERTIFICATIONS:
• PA-Physician Assistant or NP-Nurse Practitioner
• CSRC-Controlled Substance Registered Certification (DEA)
• BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
• Other - certification based on department requirements.
EXPERIENCE:
• Surgical or neurosurgery experience strongly preferred
• Candidates with a passion for surgical care and interest in neuroscience are encouraged to apply
