Job description

Job Description Boyd’s Advanced Cooling Division, located in Fredericksburg, VA, develops innovative thermal management solutions for enterprise and aerospace/defense applications. The Test Engineer is responsible for assembling, modifying, testing, and evaluating electrical and mechanical systems related to thermal management, control systems, and power distribution. This role plays a critical part in prototype development, qualification testing, and product validation activities.

Responsibilities
  • Assembling electrical products and test systems including cable fabrication, enclosure wiring, PCB soldering, cable routing, and quality inspections
  • Building and integrating mechanical assemblies including heat exchangers, motors, piping systems, rack structures, and thermal management hardware
  • Developing test setups and test cells to support engineering validation activities
  • Leading testing efforts for new and modified product designs
  • Creating and executing test plans, qualification procedures, and validation protocols
  • Collecting, analyzing, and documenting test data and results
  • Supporting prototype assembly, test setup, troubleshooting, and teardown activities
  • Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues during product bring-up and validation
  • Working directly with vendors to support testing activities and test sequencing requirements
  • Maintaining engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, test procedures, work instructions, and lessons learned
  • Preparing technical reports, test reports, operating manuals, and assembly documentation
  • Collaborating closely with engineering teams to improve product performance and reliability
Basic (Required) Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field; equivalent experience will also be considered
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical and mechanical system assembly, integration, and testing
  • Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting thermal management, power distribution, or control system products
  • Hands‑on experience with prototype development and engineering validation testing
  • Comfortable using standard laboratory equipment
  • Experience building and testing prototype hardware and systems
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions
  • Experience with serial data, power, and sensor cable fabrication and quality verification
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues during board bring-up, integration, and validation activities
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
