Position Summary

The Integration & Test Engineer (level 1) supports integration, verification, and validation of aerospace electronic components, PCA-s (Printed Circuit Assemblies), sub-assemblies, assemblies and verification of the final assembly systems. This role works closely with design, manufacturing, systems, firmware-software engineers, and quality teams to ensure hardware, firmware and software perform according to technical requirements and mission objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support system requirements verification activities through program life cycle.
    • Supports product development lifecycle from requirements development, through design, implementation, and completion with verification and validation.
  • Perform hardware, electrical, software, and firmware testing activities through design and requirement verification.
    • Participate in creating verification and validation plans and test procedures tailored to the specific system requirements, encompassing both functional and environmental testing parameters.
    • Conduct thorough functional testing of electronic components and systems to verify compliance with design requirements and specifications.
    • Perform environmental testing, including thermal vacuum testing, vibration testing, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing, to simulate the conditions of space and evaluate the performance of electronic systems.
    • Works independently or as part of a small team to complete assignments.
    • Collecting, analyzing, and documenting test data and anomalies occurring during tests.
    • Documenting nonconformance issues, performing troubleshooting hardware, software integration problems.
  • Support interfacing disciplines such as firmware, mechanical, RF, hardware, integration & test, and program management.
  • Recommend corrections, improvements to test procedures and all test activities.
  • Occasionally travel to support off-site testing when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

  • ESD manufacturing environment. Some exposure to machine noise; hearing protection may be required.
  • Must have availability to work 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts as scheduled.
  • Overtime and weekends may be requested to fulfill needs.
  • Primarily located in Chantilly with flexibility to occasionally work in Fairfax.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related technical degree.
  • 0-2 years’ experience in Test engineering, Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, or experience in (V&V) verification and validation test activities.
  • Familiarity with printed circuit assemblies and electrical test.
  • Experience with electronics test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, signal generator, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer)

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
  • Working knowledge executing requirements verification activities as an integral part of a project.
  • Experience in executing integration and test activities following test processes and test procedures for electronic systems.
  • Experience of collaborating in a multi-disciplined team to solve complex problems.
  • Knowledge of environmental testing to space industry standards, including random vibration, thermal cycling, thermal vacuum, EMI/EMC, ESD and shock testing.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $52,000 - $96,000
Please Note: Actual compensation offered will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, internal equity, business considerations, and geographic location where applicable.
