Job Posting Description / Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Must currently have an active or have open/ongoing investigation for US government security clearance (Secret).
KBR is seeking a Senior Network Sustaining Engineer to work closely with the Network Asset Planner and Network Sustaining Engineer Lead on day to day tasking and priorities related to engineering and sustaining engineering projects at NASA Wallops, as follows:
  • Provide assessment artifacts and generate as required
  • Be available during assessments to field subject matter expert related questions
  • Facilitate/enhance Security, Asset and Configuration Management data collection
  • Support engineering and sustaining engineering projects as the network engineering and IT Security representative
  • Establish networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards
  • Develop and maintain network topology, boundary diagrams, and data flow diagrams
  • Develop and maintain the master list of ports protocols and services in use on the RMN to de-conflict new systems/devices being added to the Range/environment.
  • Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Maximize network performance, troubleshoot network problems and outages
  • Secure network systems by implementing security controls and establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access
  • Report network status by gathering and prioritizing information
  • Support network related projects
  • Configure and install various network devices and services (switches, firewalls, VPN, QoS)
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
  • Track inventory and life-cycle of network equipment, technology refresh, and software support
  • Select and implement security tools and procedures as outlined in the system security plans
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Assist with preparing Statement of Works and seeking vendor input
  • Approve network design projects to ensure FISMA compliance.
  • Work closely with Operations staff to design and implement technical solutions
  • Lead network testing efforts by preparing plans and procedures, conducting tests, and preparing test reports

Required Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of experience

Skills/Certifications:
  • Required:
    • Proven ability to research and problem-solve, both independently and within a team environment
    • Must be able to clearly communicate and socialize with personnel
    • Must be able to comprehend and follow complex procedural documentation and guidance
    • Strong interpersonal skills to work directly with client, teammates, business partners, end-users, and other stakeholders
    • Possess CISCO CCNA
    • Possess or actively pursuing CISCO CCNP
    • Must have expertise with SolarWinds
    • Must have expertise with CISCO ISE
    • Must possess Firewall certificates
    • Experience in IPv4 and IPv6 implementation

  • Desired:
    • SolarWinds Certified Professional

Travel
  • Periodic travel as often as 4 times per year in durations of 1-4 weeks to remote locations is anticipated and required for this position.
