About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Sushi Cook to join the Savory team. This role is responsible for preparing high-quality sushi, maintaining consistent presentation, and supporting order fulfillment for Savory and our client partners.
The ideal candidate has strong sushi preparation and knife skills, works efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen, and maintains high standards for food quality, cleanliness, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Sushi Preparation
  • Prepare sushi rolls, sashimi, nigiri, and specialty items according to recipes and standards.
  • Cook and season sushi rice to the proper texture and flavor.
  • Slice fish and prepare ingredients while maintaining freshness and quality.
  • Maintain knowledge of menu items, specials, and preparation techniques.
Quality and Presentation
  • Ensure consistent quality, portioning, plating, and presentation.
  • Complete orders accurately and within required service timelines.
  • Uphold Savory standards for client satisfaction and the overall dining experience.
Food Safety and Organization
  • Follow Department of Health and Savory food-safety and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked workstation.
  • Safely handle knives and maintain kitchen equipment.
  • Receive, label, store, and rotate fresh ingredients properly.
Inventory and Team Support
  • Monitor inventory and communicate restocking or shortage needs.
  • Collaborate with kitchen team members to support efficient service.
  • Assist with additional kitchen responsibilities as needed.
Job Requirements
Experience and Skills
  • Previous experience preparing sushi and handling raw fish required.
  • Strong knife and food-preparation skills.
  • Knowledge of Japanese cuisine and sushi-making techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Positive, professional, and team-oriented approach.
  • Department of Health Food Protection Certificate preferred.
Schedule and Physical Requirements
  • Availability to work 4:00 am-1:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or holidays as needed.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods in varying temperature conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and repeatedly lift up to 25 pounds.
