Job Summary: The Surveying Assistant will work closely with the Site Surveyor, performing a variety of tasks related to surveying, quality control, and topographical assessments. The ideal candidate will assist in ensuring accurate measurements, documentation, and quality checks, with a special focus on drone technology for topographic surveys.   • Support the site surveyor in daily tasks such as setting up and operating surveying instruments (e.g., GPS, stations, etc.), taking measurements, and recording data.
  • Collect and process field data, ensuring accuracy and consistency. Then interpret the data and prepare reports.
  • Assist in staking and marking construction site boundaries, elevations, and other key points based on the project specifications.
  • Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other construction personnel to provide information critical for site development.
  • Ensure all surveying instruments, drones, and associated equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols while working on-site, ensuring the safe operation of drones, equipment, and following guidelines for hazardous areas.
  • Operate drones to perform topographical surveys of construction sites. Capture aerial imagery and data for mapping and site planning. Ensure drone equipment is well-maintained and operational.

Position Requirements Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a surveying role or civil construction layout is highly desirable.
  • Drone operation experience is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills and technology is critical.
  • Basic knowledge of surveying tools and equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in performing measurements, quality inspections, and data recording.

Preferred Skills:
  • Basic knowledge of Trimble Business Center is a plus.
  • Experience with Trimble GPS machine control equipment is a plus.
  • Part 107 Certification in drone operation is highly desirable.
  • AutoCAD experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with drone technology and experience operating drones for surveying purposes is advantageous.
