Job description

Mid-West Podiatry And Missouri Foot and Ankle, A division of US Foot & Ankle Specialists, is seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Surgery Scheduler to join our growing podiatry team. This role is responsible for coordinating surgeries, obtaining authorizations, communicating with patients, and ensuring a smooth scheduling process from start to finish.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, communicates well with patients and providers, and thrives in a fast-paced medical office environment.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
  • Coordinate and schedule surgeries for physicians and patients
  • Contact patients regarding surgery dates, instructions, and required testing
  • Verify insurance benefits and obtain prior authorizations for surgeries, facilities, and DME
  • Schedule procedures within the EMR system and maintain accurate documentation
  • Communicate with surgery centers, vendors, and physician offices to ensure all required paperwork is completed
  • Send surgery information and pre-op instructions to patients
  • Maintain organized surgery records and scan documentation into the EMR
  • Respond promptly to phone calls, faxes, and messages
  • Support a positive patient experience throughout the surgical scheduling process

Required Skills and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Previous surgery scheduling, medical scheduling, or medical office experience preferred
  • Knowledge of insurance verification, pre-authorizations, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and medical terminology preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Strong attention to detail and customer service skills
  • Experience with EMR/EHR systems and Microsoft Office preferred
