ROLE SUMMARY
The Plant Support Engineer will manage capital and maintenance projects as well as provide maintenance support for Ergon's Engineering department with a primary focus within the Asphalt & Emulsions business segment. This role supports a number of assigned facilities and is responsible for trouble shooting maintenance issues, building relationships with facility personnel, and executing maintenance and small capital projects at those assigned facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Regular responsibilities include proactive and reactive maintenance support, systems design, cost estimating,
project justification, contractor review, scheduling, and construction management. Typical maintenance and project
support will include tanks, pumps, mixers, boilers, heaters, piping, foundations, electrical, and instrumentation
assets to maintain operation or modify and/or expand processing or storage capabilities at existing plants. The
engineer may be expected to self-perform certain aspects of projects including process equipment
sizing/specification, hydraulic calculations, and heat transfer calculations.
KEY ROLE/DUTIES
• Provide technical support for Asphalt & Emulsions facilities and help facility personnel troubleshoot and assess maintenance issues.
• Serve as project manager for planned and unplanned responsibilities consisting of scope development, detailed design, budget development, contractor selection, and project execution oversight.
• Prepare and/or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, etc.
• Design, specify, and/or select mechanical systems, equipment, and instrumentation related to asphalt process and/or storage applications.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting in response to breakdowns or unplanned maintenance issues.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety laws related to repairs or projects.
• Develop scopes, cost estimates, and schedules for capital and maintenance projects.
• Manage contractor selection process and oversee construction activities
• Participate in PSSR, commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting activities.
• Develop design standards, department tools/procedures, training material, etc.
• Develop strong working relationships with co-workers, facility managers, consultants, contractors, etc.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS


The following qualifications are required or preferred:
• Technical Bachelor's Degree is required. Mechanical or Civil Engineering is preferred.
• Experience as a maintenance/project engineer is preferred but not required.
• Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills are required.
