Roasting Support Associate

At Coffee Unplugged, our wood-fired coffee roasting process creates smooth, robust flavors that stand out in every cup. From green coffee beans to the final roasted product, we take pride in every step, ensuring quality and consistency. We are seeking a Roasting Support Associate to join our team, supporting the roasting department by managing green coffee handling, assisting with roasting, and performing essential maintenance duties to ensure smooth operations. This role will also assist with transportation of product. This team member will report directly to the Roaster Team Leader.

What You'll Do:

  • Green Coffee Receiving: Manage the unloading of green coffee deliveries, inspecting for quality, and ensuring accurate counts during receiving.
  • Load Green Coffee: Manage the unloading and storage of green coffee beans, ensuring accurate inventory and timely supply to the roasting team.
  • Roasting Support: Assist the roasting team by stepping in as a back-up roaster when needed, following roasting profiles and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Maintain the Roastery: Keep the roasting area clean and organized, handle routine maintenance on roasting equipment, and ensure smooth operations throughout the day.
  • Support Operations: Conduct green coffee loading, maintain roasting equipment, and assist with regular maintenance and cleaning tasks to minimize downtime.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with inventory counts of green coffee and roasting supplies, ensuring accurate tracking and restocking as necessary.
  • Safety & Food Compliance: Adhere to OSHA safety regulations and ensure compliance with FDA food safety standards, maintaining a clean and safe production environment.
  • Transportation: Transport finished product and supplies between our two warehouses.

What We're Looking For:

  • Punctual & Reliable: This role requires an early start (8AM) to ensure efficient operations. Dependability is crucial.
  • Shift Flexibility: As a back-up roaster, you'll need to be flexible with your shift schedule to accommodate either an early start (5 AM) or a later (11 AM) shift for the second shift.
  • Physically Capable: Able to lift up to 50 lbs and move heavy loads using pallet jacks.
  • Flexible & Adaptable: Comfortable working independently or with a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Resilient: Able to work in varying conditions and open to receiving feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Driving: Valid license and clean record required.
  • Forklift certification preferred
