Headwaters School, a Pre-K through grade 12 independent day school serving over 500 students across its three campuses in Austin, TX, is seeking a part-time Support Teacher in our Elementary School for the 2026-2027 academic year. This position supports both the school day program and after school program.

The Support Teacher reports directly to our Elementary School Assistant Director. Our ideal candidate is energetic and passionate about providing exceptional child care, enjoys working outdoors, has experience supervising students in an outdoor environment, and loves working both with children and within a team. The position also requires strong organizational skills and experience, or at least an interest, in children's physical education.
Our Elementary Campus teaches a Montessori based curriculum and we pride ourselves on our personal connection with every child and family we have in our care.
Title: Support Guide including after school program
Tentative Hours: Monday - Friday, 11:00 pm-4:30pm (hours may vary), 28 hours per week
Duties Include:
  • Work with children in our Elementary School program aged 5 years - 11 years, which may include supervision during lunch and recess, assisting one or more specials teachers, and occasionally assisting lead teachers in homeroom classrooms.
  • Support the children through their after-school experience including indoor and outdoor play in collaboration with the aftercare team and under the direction of the aftercare Lead.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy indoor and outdoor environment for all children.
  • Develop and maintain an environment that meets the sensitive period/plane of development of the children in care.
  • Maintain an ongoing dialogue with your team to support the social and emotional well-being and academic development of each student.
  • The Support Teacher position is part of a team providing after-school care.

This is a part-time, salaried exempt position and compensation is competitive for the greater Austin area.
