Compensation: $17.01/hr plus 5.09 for Health and Wellness
Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm
Contract: VA NCO 10 - Medical Support Services
Position Type: Full-Time (Contract)
Position Overview
The Medical Support Assistant (MSA) provides administrative and clerical support services to clinical staff and Veterans at the Dayton VA Medical Center. This role supports patient care coordination, scheduling, and medical administrative functions in accordance with VA policies and procedures.
This position falls under clerical medical support services including office/ward clerks, admissions, and healthcare program support.
Primary Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments using VA systems
  • Coordinate patient care activities and communicate with clinical teams
  • Greet and assist Veterans, families, and visitors in a professional manner
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic health systems
  • Perform eligibility verification and patient check-in/check-out procedures
  • Manage inbound/outbound calls and provide customer service support
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Privacy Act, and VA security requirements
  • Process consults, referrals, and administrative documentation
  • Support clinic workflow, patient flow, and administrative operations
  • Perform general office duties (filing, scanning, data entry, correspondence)
