What is a Supplement Adjuster job?

A Supplement Adjuster reviews and processes additional repair costs for insurance claims, typically in auto or property claims. They assess estimates, verify the necessity of supplemental repairs, and negotiate with repair shops or claimants. Their goal is to ensure fair and accurate claim settlements while adhering to policy guidelines.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Supplement Adjuster position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Supplement Adjuster, you need a thorough understanding of automotive repair processes, damage assessment, and insurance claims handling—often supported by industry experience or relevant certifications like I-CAR or ASE. Proficiency in claims management software, estimating tools such as CCC ONE or Mitchell, and digital photo documentation is commonly required. Strong negotiation skills, attention to detail, and effective communication with body shops, customers, and insurance agents set outstanding candidates apart. These competencies ensure accurate, timely claim resolutions and foster satisfaction for both clients and partner repair facilities.

What types of claims and interactions can I expect as a Supplement Adjuster?

As a Supplement Adjuster, you will primarily handle supplemental claims—these are additional repair costs discovered after an initial vehicle estimate, often due to hidden damages found during the repair process. Your daily responsibilities include reviewing repair shop requests, assessing updated estimates, verifying damage, and negotiating with body shops and sometimes policyholders. You’ll work both independently and as part of a team, collaborating closely with appraisers, claims handlers, and repair facility managers. This dynamic role requires agile problem-solving and the ability to communicate clearly in sometimes fast-paced, deadline-driven situations.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

A supplement adjuster typically does not earn $10,000 a month without specialized experience or certifications. High earnings in insurance adjusting are usually achieved through seniority, high-value claims, or working independently as a contractor. Most roles in this field require industry-specific training but not necessarily a college degree.
