Position Overview: 

A supervisor oversees the operational workload of multiple crews to ensure work tasks are being executed in compliance with all company, local, state, and federal regulatory requirements. They ensure allocated resources are fully utilized to deliver timely and cost-effective work.   

Essential Functions: 

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: 

Ensure all project work is compliant with safety standards, policies and processes to ensure a safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff. 

Promote and monitor the safety of team members.  

Understand when to wear personnel protective equipment.  

Supervise both internal and contracted personnel to ensure the timely and cost-effective completion of work within the area of responsibility. 

Supervise workforce through coaching, counseling, and team building to ensure tasks are carried out in an efficient manner.  

Address complaints and resolve problems; reward and discipline employees appropriately. 

Monitor performance of employees including discipline and poor standards of work to ensure work is performed efficiently and effectively. 

Review, ensure accuracy, and execute the approval of area purchase orders, invoices, and payroll activities 

Build good working relationships with internal & external customers and manage the day-to-day relationships with them to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate solutions. 

Promote and implement best practices to ensure all work tasks achieve high efficiency in a safe manner.  

Qualifications/Special Knowledge Skills: 

Able to read and understand plans, specifications, safety, and quality standards, and effectively utilize all tools and equipment relevant to the work. 

Able to detect unsafe or hazardous conditions of equipment and work environment. 

Have precise hand-eye coordination. 

Display a willing attitude to learn from others. 

Able to problem solve. 

Possess a strong sense of personal responsibility. 

Demonstrated history of leading productive, safe teams. 

Education/Experience: 

Bachelor?s Degree (Civil/Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management). 

5-10 years? experience in Underground Utility Construction ? Water, Gas, Electric or Communications. 

Valid Driver?s License 

DOT Medical Examiner?s Certificate 

Physical Requirements: 

Able and willing to work long hours including day, night, and weekend shifts as needed, and work outside of normal hours. 

Able to frequently stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. 

Able to talk and listen. 

Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently. 

Able to climb a minimum of 5 rungs of an extension ladder. 

Able to travel to project sites that are typically within a 4-hour radius of the home office. 

Able to work in outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, and job hazards.
