Job description

Job Summary:
The purpose of the Heatset Winder Operator is to operate, thread & supply the Superba, Suessen, or Ornek Heat Setting Tunnel/ Winder & Accumulator.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Patrol and monitor the running of the machine.
  • Inspect, Label, and Stack wound packages as instructed.
  • Follow all Company, Safety & Quality Guidelines.
  • Check the Specification sheet at the beginning of each shift and verify that all specs are being followed exactly as described on the spec sheet.
  • Verify that each tube of yarn produced from the winder complies with the spec sheet.
  • Load empty tubes into Winder magazine.
  • Separate & Straighten the yarn bundle into the thread path from the Accumulator to the Winder.
  • Use Air Splice to join any broken ends.
  • If the Splicer doesn't reach, tie a weaver knot with ¼ - ½" tail.
  • Periodically check the thread path. If it is crossed, stop and correct the winder to ensure run-ability.
  • Tunnel efficiency of 90 % or better is expected.
  • Stack the finished packages as configured on the spec sheet.
  • Keep the work area free of yarn waste at all times.
  • Clean your assignment and work area each shift.

Performance Expectations (if applicable):
  • Follow printed & spoken instructions & specifications effectively.
  • Able to stand for long periods.
  • Hand dexterity sufficient to handle packages, operate splicer, or tie weavers' knots as specified.
  • Able to lift & place numerous 12-20 lb. packages per shift.

Experience/Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic math skills.

Other Requirements:
  • Overtime is required on occasion.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
  • All accidents must be reported immediately.
