Employment is with The Research Foundation for the State University of New York, a private, nonprofit, educational corporation that provides essential sponsored program administration and innovation support services to SUNY faculty and students whose ideas and research generate ground-breaking discovery and translate to entrepreneurial and economic development opportunities for New York State.

Job Description:

Description of Duties:

The Center for Human Services Research, University at Albany is seeking a full-time Programmer/Analyst to develop, test and maintain an array of web-based applications. This position requires application of foundational knowledge of software engineering, database administration, and application development to support, maintain, and enhance .NET/SQL Server data applications used by human service programs at the Center for Human Services Research (CHSR).

Under the close supervision of the Senior Programmer, the incumbent performs assigned development tasks, responds to support requests, implements application updates, and conducts testing and quality assurance activities. This position is open only to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and candidates currently residing in the United States. All CHSR positions are contingent upon continued funding.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information science, data science, software engineering, or a directly related field from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) or an internationally recognized accredited organization AND one year of relevant experience required.
  • Foundational coursework and/or practical experience in software engineering, database systems, information security, computer networks, and data structures, as would be acquired through a bachelor's degree program in computer science or a directly related specialty field
  • Experience with Microsoft technology stack, especially Visual Studio, ASP.NET, and SQL Server
  • Experience programming in C# and/or VB,
  • Experience working in SQL Server/Azure, designing data structures, and writing stored procedures
  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented development, program logic and data flow

PreferredQualifications:

  • 2 years of post-degree professional or internship experience in software development and/or database administration OR a master's degree in computer science, information science, data science, software engineering, or a directly related field from a college or university accredited by the USDOE or an internationally recognized accredited organization.
  • Strong communication skills that allow interaction with sponsors.
  • Experience working with the culturally diverse populations that comprise New York State
Additional Information:

Salary Range:$75,000-$85,000annually.
