We have an exciting opportunity for a Construction & Maintenance Technician I (SGL3) based in Conway, AR!

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs company field operations including manual labor and other duties necessary to accomplish the installation, repair, construction and maintenance of natural gas distribution systems.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install, repair, or replace steel and plastic pipe
  • Provide First Responder assistance in emergency situations
  • Load and unload required equipment, tools, and supplies onto and from truck
  • Locate gas lines
  • Use a variety of hand tools and power tools, including picks, shovels, sharpshooters, pipe wrenches, pipe cutters, bolt cutters, pavement saws, jack hammers, air guns, etc.
  • Operate a motor vehicle and heavy equipment and the ability to enter and exit vehicle unassisted
  • Operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch daily for extended periods of time and in all types of weather conditions
  • Handle emergency situations, including possible exposure to gaseous atmospheres on occasion
  • Respond to emergency calls and/or call-outs and occasionally return to work while off duty
  • Certify and don personal protective equipment, such as respirator, safety glasses, hardhat, gloves, protective footwear and earplugs on a daily basis
  • Submit to random drug screen pool required for DOT drivers and DOT safety sensitive positions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work outdoors on a daily basis in all types of weather conditions
  • Must be available to respond to emergencies during and after normal working hours

Nice to have experience includes:

  • Welding
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Heavy equipment operator
  • Field services/operations

The position is covered under the D.O.T. regulations and Summit Utilities Drug and Alcohol Policy and is, therefore, subject to all terms of the Policy, including the random selection for drug testing.
