Role Summary

The Topps Company, Inc. is a creator and marketer of sports, entertainment, and recreational products, headquartered in New York, NY, striving to foster an enduring connection between fans and their sport heroes. Its product portfolio includes football, baseball, basketball, ice hockey, soccer, and other sports and non-sports trading cards, jerseys, hats, balls, bats, and photos.

Topps Digital - Sports & Entertainment is looking for a Content Designer to help grow our digital collectible mobile apps. As a Content Designer, you will collaborate with our app team to develop, visualize, and design our trading cards from ideation to release. You will work with a team of other Designers, Content Producers, Product Managers, and Community Managers to help drive growth in the Topps Sports & Entertainment Apps!

You also have a good grasp of what is current and popular among the relevant fan communities and stay up to date with the latest news and design trends so that you can create content that speaks to the fandom.

Skills: 

  • Attention to detail. You will be designing content for release in-app that meets the world-class standards of Fanatics Collectibles and our licensors
  • Strong visual communication skills. You will be responsible for meeting deadlines and ensuring that all designs are up to our standard of quality and are on-brand
  • Great collaborator. You are a team player capable of clear and constant communication. With shifting deadlines and priorities, the team needs to be aligned, and you keep your team updated on your project statuses and are ready to pivot when needs change
  • You are able to ideate and create content in a collaborative setting, be flexible and receptive to team and licensor feedback
  • Service-oriented. You are dedicated to delivering a great app experience to our users through clear communication, accurate delivery of content, and an open ear to user feedback
  • Ability to manage effectively multiple concurrent projects, each in various stages of development on deadline

Key Responsibilites:

  • Content Ideation: Creating original templates for digital trading cards, collectibles & other Topps initiatives that appeal to fans and collectors
  • Content Design: Structuring templates such that subjects, logos, and colors can easily be changed so that finished cards can be produced efficiently and in volume
  • Idea Execution: Collating your own ideas and interpreting the ideas of team members into exciting new cards designs that appeal to our collectors
  • Brand Identity: Maintain and update app and property branding to keep it current and relevant
  • Content Design Production: Prepare cards for release and maintain visual quality and brand synergy, and manage external design resources to meet deadlines

Qualifications:

  • 3-5years of experienceof graphic design experience, preferably in a sports, entertainment, or mobile/technology company
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in Photoshop, and knowledge of the entire Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, etc).  
  • Experience in motion graphics, editing, or animation (Blender, Cinema 4D)
  • Ability to work quickly and produce high quality work under tight deadlines and short turnaround times
  • Good pulse on latest design trends, styles and out-of-the box creative thinking 
  • Passion for collectibles and the brands that Topps represents 
  • Experience in 3D modeling a plus
  • Experience working in a design team setting a plus
