Description Title: Lecturer, CC (Filipino Language) - Fall 2025/Spring 2026/Summer 2026 Hiring Unit: Language Arts Location: Leeward Community College Date Posted: 07/17/2025 Closing Date: Continuous Salary: Minimum $1,978/per credit hour Other Conditions: Fall 2025/Spring 2026/Summer 2026, part-time, temporary, for lecturer applicant pool. Non-tenurial, pending availability of funding and actual staffing requirements. May be for Leeward CC day, evening or weekend offerings on- and off-campus such as Leeward CC - Waianae Moku and local area high schools (pending background clearance) or other satellite campuses.
Duties and Responsibilities: Teach assigned courses in the discipline. Maintain minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught. Prepare course syllabus and reports related to teaching and student progress.
Work under supervision of discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area. May include instructional assignments involving distance education. Minimum Qualifications: Functionally native oral and written fluency in Tagalog, the ability to communicate in English, and one of the following: (a) Master's in Tagalog (language or literature); OR (b) Master's in Tagalog as a Second Language; OR (c) Master's in the study of the culture or history of the people who speak Tagalog; OR (d) Master's in Linguistics, ESL, Education or another language (at least 12 credits of advanced coursework in second language methodology, Tagalog literature, Tagalog culture, or any combination thereof); OR (e) Bachelor's in Tagalog (language or literature) and 3 years of related work experience; OR (f) Bachelor's in Tagalog as a Second Language and 3 years of related work experience; OR (g) Bachelor's in the study of the culture or history of the people who speak Tagalog and 3 years of related work experience; OR (h) Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, ESL, Education or another language (at least 12 credits of advanced coursework in second language methodology, Tagalog literature, Tagalog culture, or any combination thereof) and 3 years of related work experience.
All minimum qualifications must be from a regionally or nationally accredited institution and met by the effective date of appointment. If qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting the minimum qualifications may be considered on an exception basis. Desirable Qualifications: Teaching experience at a community college level.
