Job Overview and Requirements
Are you a teacher who is passionate about creating a safe and fun environment for a child's first learning experience? Do you thrive when working in a positive group setting with like-minded teachers? Sportsplex is offering a fantastic opportunity for someone who desires to join our well-established & outstanding Tot Time School! Not only do we have top-notch teachers and excellent curriculum, we have an incredible facility in which we offer children swim and tennis lessons incorporated into the program.
Sportsplex is looking to add preschool teachers (part-time and full-time) to our current team of teachers in our highly sought after program. The ideal candidate is energetic, fun-loving, creative and a good team player. Our preschool services children ages 2 through 5 years old with both full day and half day options. Located within a state of the art multi-sports health and fitness facility, Tot Time Preschool combines education and play for our youngest learners.
What you will be doing:
  • Develop lesson plans with your co-teacher based off a carefully created curriculum
  • Employ a variety of educational techniques to teach children
  • Observe each child to help improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
  • Encourage children to interact with each other and help them to resolve occasional conflicts
  • Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
  • Track children's progress and report to parents
  • Communicate with parents regularly to help to achieve success for each child
  • Collaborate with other educators - teachers must work together to achieve weekly and monthly goals
  • Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with OCFS standards
  • Be comfortable taking and preparing the kids ( i.e. getting them dressed ) for swim and tennis classes

Essential Requirements
  • For full-time position: NYS teaching Certification in Birth-grade 2 or NYS Teacher Assistant Certification
  • For part-time position: working towards NYS certification, or 2+ years experience teaching children ages 2-5
  • September - June position; additional opportunities to work summer months
  • Obtain CPR/FA certification
  • Pass extensive background check - including fingerprints and medical clearance in accordance with OCFS
  • Must have a flexible schedule with the majority of our program taking place between the hours of 8:00 and 4:00
  • The ability and willingness to participate in other children's programming offered at Sportsplex-New Windsor.
  • Knowledge of common core standards and working with a curriculum.
  • Ability to use classroom management to maintain a safe and productive classroom setting.
  • Attend professional development classes (minimum 15 hrs per year)
  • Bonus if familiar with FUNdations curriculum

Compensation and Benefits
  • $16-$20 hourly rate commensurate with experience and education.
