Job description

The Medical Scribe is responsible for documenting patient data into electronic health records system, as well as assisting with patient care and related administrative tasks in clinic to increase efficiency and productivity of providers.

Twin Cities Orthopedics is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices, owned and led by its physicians, on a mission to give patients more control over their healthcare.

This is a part-time (0.75) position working the below schedule out of our Edina, Eagan, and Plymouth locations.

**This is not a summer position this is a continual schedule throughout the year**

Monday 6:45am to about 5:30pm *travel over the lunch hour to another clinic
Tuesday paperwork time to complete notes - about 4 hours
Wednesday 6:45 to about 5:30pm *travel over the lunch hour to another clinic
Thursday paperwork time to complete notes - about 4 hours

Essential Functions:

  • Work alongside providers to document patient data into electronic health records system during patient visit
  • Ensure accuracy of patient information entered into system
  • Follow coding requirements during entry of patient information
  • Retrieve data as needed related to the patient visit
  • With appropriate training, may also assist with any of the following:
    • Prepare, stock, and clean exam room
    • Room patients, compile patient medical data, and prepare for x-rays
    • Assist with information gathering prior to and during patient visit
    • Assist in surgical x-ray procurement
    • Application and removal of casts
    • Prescriptions: Obtain provider approval and call/fax to pharmacy
    • Prep for injections, change dressings, apply durable medical equipment, and remove sutures/staples under provider direction
    • Act as a prescribing delegate to enter medical orders (i.e. medications, laboratory services, imaging studies and other auxiliary services into the computerized provider order entry (CPOE) into patient electronic records under the direct supervision of the provider
    • Assist with medical supply inventory and ordering
    • Assist in clinical related paper work including disability forms, referrals, etc.
    • Assist with returning patient telephone calls
    • Schedule imaging studies and injections
  • Any and all other duties as assigned

      Education and Experience Requirements:

      • High School diploma/GED or equivalent required
      • Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology required
      • Knowledge of diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments preferred

      Benefits & Compensation:

      • Actual starting pay will vary based on education, skills, and experience.
      • A $1,500 sign-on bonus will be offered for select roles, payable on first paycheck with a 12-month commitment. Internal applicants are not eligible for the sign-on bonus.

      Working Conditions:

      • Frequentlylift up to 50 pounds independently and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.
      • Requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, and move continuously throughout the shift.
      • Must be able to frequently perform physical activities such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.
      • Visual acuity to read electronic and paper documents.
      • Auditory ability to participate in phone or video calls clearly.
      • Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, printer).
