Position Summary

The Pool Attendant is responsible for creating a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming pool environment while providing attentive service to guests and members.

This position assists guests with pool chairs and towels, maintains the overall appearance and cleanliness of the pool deck and dock areas, monitors pool amenities, and works closely with Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Engineering, and Pool Leadership to ensure a seamless guest experience.

The Pool Attendant is highly visible throughout the pool area and should be proactive in anticipating guest needs while maintaining The Standard’s service and presentation standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and acknowledge guests and members throughout the pool area with warm, genuine hospitality.
  • Assist guests with locating and setting up pool chairs and seating areas.
  • Provide fresh towels and replenish them throughout the guest experience.
  • Anticipate guest needs and offer assistance proactively.
  • Provide accurate information regarding pool amenities, hotel offerings, food and beverage service, and property programming.
  • Alert the appropriate Server or Food & Beverage team member when a guest would like to place an order.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest questions, requests, or concerns.
  • Communicate guest concerns or service opportunities to Management when additional assistance is needed
  • Set up pool chairs, towels, umbrellas, and surrounding areas according to established presentation standards.
  • Maintain the overall appearance and organization of the pool deck, rock area, dock, and surrounding guest spaces.
  • Continuously remove used or discarded towels from the pool deck.
  • Transport clean and soiled towel carts to designated areas.
  • Maintain appropriate towel par levels throughout the day.
  • Reset chairs and guest areas promptly following use.
  • Remove trash, cups, and other discarded items throughout the pool and dock areas.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures for the pool.
  • Monitor the general condition of the pool, hot tub, cold plunge, and surrounding amenities.
  • Check temperatures of the pool, cold plunge, and hot tub according to established procedures.
  • Immediately report temperature concerns, equipment issues, or maintenance deficiencies to Engineering and Pool Management.
  • Monitor guest areas for potential safety concerns and report hazards promptly.
  • Maintain awareness of activity throughout the pool and surrounding areas.
  • Communicate and reinforce established pool policies in a professional, respectful, and guest-friendly manner.
  • Help maintain an environment that is safe, comfortable, and enjoyable for all guests and members.
  • Address prohibited activities such as smoking, disruptive behavior, unauthorized music, or other violations of established pool policies.
  • Escalate challenging guest situations to Pool Management or Guest Relations when appropriate.
  • Immediately report accidents, injuries, suspicious activity, or safety concerns according to company procedures.
  • Maintain clear pathways and ensure pool areas remain free of avoidable hazards.
  • Work closely with Pool Servers, Bartenders, Runners, and Food & Beverage Management to support the overall pool experience.
  • Alert Servers when guests would like to order food or beverages.
  • Assist with maintaining guest areas by removing discarded service items when appropriate.
  • Support the Food & Beverage team during high-volume periods within the responsibilities of the position.
  • Maintain clear communication between Pool Operations and Food & Beverage throughout the shift.
  • Partner with Housekeeping to maintain the cleanliness and presentation of pool and dock areas.
  • Communicate maintenance concerns promptly to Engineering.
  • Assist with moving, arranging, and resetting pool furniture as needed.
  • Maintain organized storage and operational areas.
  • Assist Pool Leadership and other departments with reasonable operational requests.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous hospitality, pool, resort, beach club, recreation, or guest service experience preferred.
  • Friendly, outgoing, and guest-focused demeanor.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment

This position works primarily outdoors throughout the pool, dock, and surrounding guest areas.

Team members should be comfortable working in Miami’s outdoor environment, including periods of heat, humidity, direct sunlight, wind, and changing weather conditions. The position also involves working around water and wet surfaces and requires continuous awareness of guest and employee safety.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk continuously for extended periods, including shifts of 8 hours or more.
  • Frequent walking throughout the pool deck and dock areas.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, reach, stretch, and perform repetitive physical movements.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to move and arrange pool chairs, towel carts, umbrellas, and related equipment.
  • Ability to safely work around pools, wet surfaces, and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to perform physical duties in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
