Duties/Responsibilities

We offer the opportunity for students to work and learn across multiple project disciplines, to help formulate collaboration and deliver technically informed business insights to our clients. Typical engineering projects may involve:

  • Thermal hydraulic, structural, and electrical analysis, in support of the industries that we serve
  • Product Development (including mechanical and electrical design, software development, printed circuit board design, systems engineering and testing)
  • Asset Management and Business Operations Improvement including data analytics, automation, machine learning, quality assurance, and process development))
  • Capital Project Management and Planning including support of project siting permitting and development, project planning, owner's engineering, oversight of execution, and risk management.
  • Process Control Systems and Communications including, system architecture, design, software development, testing, and risk assessment)
  • Advanced nuclear technology design, analysis and deployment
Qualifications

The ideal candidate can work collaboratively on engineering teams as well as independently to produce high-quality technical deliverables. Students will work on project teams with junior and senior engineers giving them the opportunity to learn from and work with recognized industry-wide experts.

Successful candidates will possess an excellent academic record, be highly motivated and proactive, and have a strong desire to pursue a technical career path. In addition, successful candidates will have the following skills and capabilities:

  • Robust analytical skills, including the ability and passion to problem solve
  • Aptitude to work outside of a single engineering discipline and quickly learn new concepts
  • Advanced computer skills preferred, including familiarity with programming languages such as C++ or Python, analysis programs such as Ansys or MATLAB-Simulink and design programs such as SolidWorks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail

Positions are available during the spring, summer, and fall semesters in our corporate headquarters located in Alexandria, VA, as well as in our branch offices in East Lyme, Connecticut, Burlington, Massachusetts, and Salt Lake City, Utah.

The salary range for this position is $1,000 to $1,450 weekly. Actual compensation is based on several factors, including but not limited to experience, internal parity, education, and skills. We offer a housing stipend for those who incur housing costs during their internship employment, as well as paid holidays.
