Job description

Position Summary


The Field Service Repair Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, testing, and maintaining Teal's unmanned aerial systems (UAS), payloads, and supporting electronics. This position is primarily based in the office and repair facility, where the technician performs component-level troubleshooting, repairs, system testing, and quality verification.

Approximately 40% of the role involves travel to customer locations to provide technical support, perform field diagnostics and repairs, conduct training, and assist with system integration and operational readiness activities. This role serves as a key liaison between customers, engineering, and internal service teams to ensure product reliability, mission readiness, and customer satisfaction across Teal's product portfolio.

This role combines hands-on electronics repair and technical troubleshooting with customer-facing field support, providing a unique opportunity to directly impact product reliability, mission success, and customer satisfaction across Teal's growing UAS portfolio.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


In-Office Electronics Repair & Technical Support (Approximately 60%)

  • Diagnose and repair UAV hardware, electronics, payloads, and supporting systems.
  • Perform component-level troubleshooting, soldering, rework, calibrations, and system adjustments.
  • Conduct functional testing, quality assurance inspections, and acceptance testing of repaired systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance, preventative inspections, and firmware/software updates.
  • Utilize schematics, technical documentation, and diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve issues.
  • Support rapid-turn repairs (RTR) and time-sensitive customer requirements.
  • Document repair activities, root cause findings, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Product Management, and Customer Support teams to resolve technical issues and improve product reliability.
  • Capture and communicate recurring failure trends, quality concerns, and improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate repair records, work orders, and service documentation.

Field Service & Customer Support (Approximately 40%)

  • Travel to customer locations to perform diagnostics, repairs, installations, updates and system evaluations.
  • Support customer onboarding, system setup, unboxing, and preflight inspections.
  • Conduct field-based testing and troubleshooting of UAV systems and payloads.
  • Provide on-site technical training and operational best-practice guidance.
  • Support customer demonstrations, acceptance testing, and operational readiness events.
  • Assist customers during critical operational periods and time-sensitive support situations.
  • Document field findings and communicate technical observations to internal stakeholders.
  • Represent Teal professionally while serving as a technical resource at customer locations.

Required Qualifications


  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate required.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in electronics repair, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and technical support.
  • Experience performing component-level repairs, soldering, and electronic assembly rework.
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and avionics systems.
  • Experience working with UAV platforms, payloads, and supporting ground systems required.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and circuit testers.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Technical certification or degree in Electronics, Avionics, Mechatronics, or related field preferred (or equivalent work experience).
  • Willingness to obtain HAZMAT certifications if required.
  • DoD Secret Clearance desired, or the ability to obtain.

Additional Desired Qualifications


  • Prior military experience is a plus.
  • Experience supporting DoD, public safety, or enterprise customers preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions


  • Primarily an in-office position performing electronics diagnostics, repair, testing, and quality verification activities.
  • Approximately 40% travel to domestic and international customer sites, with the potential for travel to increase over time.
  • Travel may include remote locations, field exercises, demonstrations, training events, and customer support activities.
  • Overnight travel may be required.
  • May involve lifting equipment, working at electronics workstations, and supporting field operations in varying environmental conditions.
