Maintenance Mechanic

The primary purpose of this position is to safely minimize plant equipment failures and shutdowns. The maintenance technician also provides various fabrication capabilities to the plant and prolongs the usable life of all processes and equipment.

The hours for this position are Sunday-Wednesday from 8pm-6am. Training will be on 1st shift M-F for the first 4-6 months.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Safely carry out maintenance priorities to adequately cover all facility needs as led.
  • Provide and maintain preventative maintenance support for building, plant equipment, boilers, etc. per applicable maintenance and other SOPP's
  • Provide technical skills such as welding, pipe fitting, equipment repairs, etc. to assist in plant and process improvements.
  • Serve as a member of the Waterloo facility's Emergency Response Team.
  • Ensure that maintenance activities do not contaminate products and that clean-up following maintenance activities occurs in accordance with SOPP.
  • Review SDS and other available handling information prior to working on any process to ensure proper work practices.
  • Provide brief daily write up of daily maintenance activities to Maintenance Manager/Supervisor.
  • Be willing to serve as a member of employee safety committee.
  • Responsible for the security of tools, equipment and parts inventory.
  • Monitor contractors, vendors and other visitors for compliance with Hydrite's safety rules and regulations.
  • Recommend changes in SOPP's and process equipment where greater efficiency can be achieved.
  • Responsible for compliance of corporate and government regulations regarding safety and environmental standards.
  • Assist as needed in maintaining the technical library for building and plant equipment.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

  • This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to operate a mobile industrial equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Knowledge of safe and proper welding techniques.
  • Knowledge of proper piping procedures are helpful.
  • Previous maintenance experience desirable.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Office.
  • Must have an acceptable driving record.
  • During the pre-employment process, you will need to pass a drug screen.
