Job description

Position Summary

The Warehouse Labourer is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of Edmonton depot activities, including shipping and receiving, purchasing support, inventory control, technician assistance, supplier and courier communication, fleet service coordination, system data entry, and general facility upkeep. The primary purpose of this role is to keep field technicians productive and prepared so they can serve customers efficiently.

Core Responsibilities

Shipping, Receiving & Material Flow

  • Receive, inspect, verify, and accurately record incoming products, equipment, transfers, and returns.

  • Prepare, stage, package, document, and coordinate outgoing shipments and internal transfers.

  • Confirm quantities, condition, part numbers, and supporting paperwork; promptly resolve shortages, damage, or discrepancies.

  • Maintain organized receiving, staging, pickup, and shipping areas so materials move safely and efficiently.

Technician Support & Service Coordination

  • Act as the Edmonton depot's primary warehouse contact for HVAC technicians, plumbers, and electricians.

  • Respond promptly when a technician needs an urgent part, tool, material, equipment item, or additional assistance.

  • Take ownership of technician-support requests-including items missed from an order or unexpected field requirements-and see each request through to a practical resolution.

  • Pick, stage, and verify technician orders, replenishment items, job materials, and special requests accurately and on time. Ensure materials picked and needed are ready by 6:45 a.m. daily

  • Communicate status, delays, substitutions, and next steps clearly to technicians and operations leaders.

Purchasing, Suppliers & Couriers

  • Create, review, and authorize purchase orders within assigned approval limits and company procedures.

  • Maintain professional contact with suppliers regarding availability, pricing, lead times, substitutions, credits, returns, warranties, and order discrepancies.

  • Serve as the main courier contact and liaison; arrange pickups and deliveries, track shipments, and follow up on delayed, missing, or damaged freight.

  • Seek cost-effective and operationally sound solutions while respecting preferred-supplier agreements and authorization requirements.

Inventory Control & ServiceTitan Administration

  • Monitor stock levels, usage, replenishment needs, backorders, transfers, returns, and inventory exceptions.

  • Complete cycle counts and support physical inventories; investigate and correct variances with appropriate documentation and authorization.

  • Enter and maintain timely, accurate information in ServiceTitan, including purchase orders, receipts, transfers, adjustments, returns, and other warehouse transactions.

  • Protect data integrity by reviewing entries, attaching required documentation, and correcting errors promptly.

  • Maintain orderly bin locations, accurate labels, and appropriate storage practices to support reliable inventory records.

Fleet, Facility & Depot Upkeep

  • Keep warehouse, yard, loading areas, offices, and common areas clean, organized, secure, and free of preventable hazards.

  • Complete or coordinate routine duties such as washing mats, waste removal, minor upkeep, and reporting building or equipment maintenance needs.

  • Perform seasonal property care, including lawn mowing during spring, summer, and fall and snow or ice removal during winter.

  • Ensure entrances, walkways, emergency exits, and work areas remain accessible and safe.

  • Monitor & maintain equipment, ensuring all are ready for jobsite work. Procure and schedule all equipment maintenance repairs.

Lead-Hand Accountability, Safety & Communication

  • Provide day-to-day work direction and practical guidance to warehouse teammates when assigned, helping prioritize workload and maintain service standards.

  • Follow and reinforce company safety procedures, safe lifting practices, PPE requirements, equipment rules, and housekeeping standards.

  • Identify and report hazards, incidents, damaged equipment, security concerns, and operational risks promptly.

  • Escalate urgent service, purchasing, inventory, fleet, staffing, or facility concerns to management with clear facts and potential recommendations for next steps.

  • Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring problems and suggesting practical changes to processes, layout, stocking, or communication.

  • Perform other reasonable duties related to warehouse, depot, and operational support as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous warehouse, shipping and receiving, inventory, purchasing, parts, distribution, or service-industry experience is preferred.

  • Strong computer and data-entry skills; ServiceTitan experience is an asset, with the ability to learn company systems and procedures quickly.

  • Demonstrated accuracy with purchase orders, inventory transactions, shipping documents, and electronic records.

  • Strong organization, prioritization, follow-through, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

  • Professional communication and relationship-building skills with technicians, suppliers, couriers, repair facilities, and internal leaders.

  • A service-first, hands-on approach with the judgment to balance urgent technician needs, cost, safety, and inventory controls.

  • Valid driver's licence and an acceptable driving record may be required for local pickups, deliveries, or fleet coordination.

  • Experience with plumbing, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or construction-related parts and materials is an asset.

Physical & Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in a warehouse, yard, and outdoor depot environment with regular exposure to changing temperatures and seasonal weather.

  • The role requires regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, and material handling, including safely lifting and carrying items consistent with company policy and applicable requirements.

  • May require operation of approved material-handling equipment, subject to training and authorization.

  • Occasional schedule flexibility may be required to address operational priorities, urgent technician needs, deliveries, weather events, or facility issues.

Performance Expectations

  • Technician requests are acknowledged promptly, communicated clearly, and followed through to resolution.

  • Inventory, purchasing, shipping, receiving, and ServiceTitan records are accurate, complete, and entered on time.

  • Warehouse and staging areas remain organized, safe, and ready to support daily operations.

  • Supplier, courier, fleet, and facility issues are managed professionally and escalated appropriately

  • The Lead Hand demonstrates reliability, ownership, sound judgment, teamwork, and a consistent focus on internal customer service.
