Job description

Position: Group Leader
Reports to: Executive Director
Hours: 15–20 hours/week, varies Monday–Friday (2:15–5:45 PM or 3:00–6:00 PM)
Salary Range: $17.00–$18.00/hour, based on relevant work experience

The Group Leader is responsible for working with the school-age coordinator in helping plan and execute social-emotional activities for an assigned group in the afterschool program. This position ensures safety standards are upheld at all times, follows and enforces Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and ACT policies, and provides exceptional customer service to participants and their families.


General Duties

Supervise and ensure the well-being of all afterschool program participants.

Help plan, implement, and lead a variety of non-technology activities, including team-building games, arts, and enrichment programs.

Provide quality customer service through positive interaction with participants, staff, guardians, and the public.

Maintain the highest level of safety and risk management at all times.

Respond appropriately to all emergencies and report incidents to the appropriate supervisor.

Attend on-site training sessions led by the Executive Director and School-Age Child Care (SAC) team.

Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a group setting (not including babysitting).

Must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate.

Pre-Employment Requirements

If hired, candidates must submit:

Completed medical form

NYS fingerprinting clearance

State Central Register database clearance

HR paperwork; Office of Children and Family Services paperwork

Upon hiring, you will also be required to complete 30 hours of OCFS online school-age training courses.

Additional Opportunities for Hours

School Break Camps: ACT offers programs during public and/or private school closures. Group Leaders may work between 5–9 hours per day (with breaks) if selected.
