Hy-Vee is looking for a Data Analytics Intern to join our team. This position will be responsible for collaborating with team members on key business projects, learning key skills for a career in data science, and become a contributing member to the team. You will leverage first and third party data to understand in-store and digital trends for how customers interact with our business. Work as part of a team focused on making our customers' lives Easier, Healthier, and Happier.

We are looking for a bright, inquisitive mind who is passionate about leveraging data to drive action in a fast-paced retail environment. Someone who loves to ask "why", connect the dots, and understands the power of data will thrive in this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pairs with team members to define questions of interest relating to brand managers, product owners, consumer researchers, and leadership
  • Experience the CRISP-DM processes in the real world
  • Create code for the gathering, merging and aggregating of data
  • Gain experience with fundamental exploratory data analysis and transformations using R and/or Python
  • Build, evaluate, and iterate on models solving for initial business problem
  • Create visualizations & present findings of work to the team
  • Learn how to prepare reproducible, structured code for the entire data science pipeline

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Working towards BA/BS degree in a STEM field, with a graduate degree preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in writing SQL for SQL Server; Google BigQuery preferred
  • Knowledge and experience of statistical software (R and/or Python) preferred
  • Experience with reporting software (PowerBI, DataStudio)
