Job description

The Salvation Army; an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has job opening for the Summer Program Coordinator for the Metro Atlanta Area Command Boy & Girls Club Bellwood located in Atlanta Georgia.


Job Summary

Plans and provides activities for school-age children participating in The Salvation Army Bellwood Boys and Girls Club Summer Day Camp Programs; plans, develops, and facilitates character/leadership development, health/fitness/hygiene/nutrition training, education attainment, homework assistance, basic skill development in reading, writing and math, basic computer knowledge, and life/coping skills; prepares and maintains program records; maintains cleanliness and orderliness of The Salvation Army Bellwood Boys and Girls Club property.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Knowledge of the principles and practices of Child Behavior and Development; Knowledge of the principles and practices of early childhood curriculum development; Knowledge of the principles and practices of First Aid and C.P.R. and ability to ensure the safety of children; Ability to teach children Christian values as well as general early childhood educational curriculum; Ability to plan, develop, and implement effective childhood programs and activities; Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language; Ability to observe children and ensure their safety; Ability to use/operate general office equipment, playground equipment, kitchen equipment, recreation equipment and computer.


Education and Experience

High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred, And Two (2)years experience teaching child development programs in a church or pre-school, Or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.


Licenses and Certifications

Valid State Driver's License; C.P.R. and First Aid Certification


Physical Requirements/Working Conditions.


Ability to meet attendance requirements; Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Work is performed in a normal child care environment where there physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
