Position Summary Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Summer Student Internship

City of Palatka is seeking High School students for our Summer Internship Program that are interested in learning aspects of public relations and local government. The interns that are selected for these positions should expect to learn key points of the field and gain work life experience to prepare them for the future. It is essential that the applicant have excellent communications skills, demonstrate creativity, and understand the importance of attending to even the smallest details.

  • Assist in one of the following departments:
  1. City Clerk's Office
  2. Planning and Zoning
  3. Community Affairs (Parks & Recreation)
  4. Palatka Municipal Airport
  5. Police Department
  6. Human Resources
  7. Public Works
  8. Fire Department
  9. Engineering

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Answer phone calls
  • Filing
  • Scanning
  • Assist with mailing and print production
  • Create and update databases
  • Keep site clean, safe and functioning
  • Set up equipment, water stations, coolers and keep all camp spaces well maintained
  • Organize summer events and activities, on site
  • Complete Errands to stores for supplies

Additional duties as assigned may be required depending on job placement

Education and/or Experience:

Must currently be enrolled in high school. Have the ability to work flexible summer hours.
