As an Engineering Project Management Intern, you'll join a dynamic team committed to strengthening the world's energy systems to make them more resilient, efficient, and reliable.

Based at our global headquarters in Houston, TX, MetOx is seeking a motivated summer Engineering Project Management Intern to join our team. This role offers hands-on experience supporting cross-functional engineering and manufacturing initiatives, with a focus on project coordination, data tracking, and execution. You will gain exposure to advanced manufacturing environments while working closely with engineering, operations, and technical leadership to help drive critical projects forward.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Scheduling Support

  • Assists in maintaining project schedules (e.g., Asana).
  • Updates task statuses, durations, and dependencies.
  • Helps identify potential schedule risks or delays.

Progress Tracking & Reporting

  • Tracks daily/weekly progress across workstreams (engineering, procurement, installation, etc.).
  • Supports creation of dashboards and reports (Excel / PowerPoint).
  • Works with teams to close gaps (missing parts, unclear scope).

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinates meetings, capture notes, and track action items.
  • Partners with team members to ensure action closure.
  • Maintains clear communication across cross-functional teams.

Documentation & Process Support

  • Organizes and maintains project documentation (drawings, specs, trackers).
  • Helps standardize templates (status reports, checklists, trackers).
  • Supports process improvements for project execution.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Engineering or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internship or project experience supporting engineering, manufacturing, or other technical teams.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for tracking schedules, analyzing data, and building clear project updates or dashboards.
  • Exposure to project management or planning tools (e.g., Asana, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar) is a plus.
  • Experience organizing workstreams, tracking deliverables, or coordinating across multiple stakeholders in a technical setting.
  • Exposure to lab or manufacturing environments, with an understanding of safety protocols and operational workflows.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical teams and translate engineering progress into structured project updates.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of project management principles, including planning, scheduling, and risk identification in a technical environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, for tracking project progress and communicating updates.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines across concurrent workstreams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical information and translate it into actionable plans.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly coordinate across cross-functional teams.

Physical Demands: This position requires sitting at a desk and viewing a computer screen for extended periods while working or performing other office tasks. Ability to move around the office, including occasional standing, walking, and bending to retrieve documents, attend meetings, or use office equipment. Some light lifting may be required, up to 20 lbs.
