Job description

Summary
STP's Engineering Intern program was created to supplement our workforce management
plan with emerging talent and enhance our long-range recruiting efforts by
incorporating real-world work experiences and learning opportunities for
students. The program is designed to provide engineering students with
meaningful, challenging and practical work experiences in commercial nuclear
power. STP is very proud of the accomplishments and contributions that
our past interns have provided during their internships and throughout their
careers after graduation.
Responsibilities
The intern will be assigned an engineering project with specific objectives and
performance goals, and will work closely with the supervisor and assigned
mentor to successfully complete all assignments during the internship
period.
Responsibilities will include:
Collecting and analyzing data, and presenting results and proposed solutions at appropriate levels.
Preparing and/or reviewing engineering documentation (calculations, specifications,
analyses, drawings, evaluations, design change packages, etc.).
Reviewing and evaluating industry documentation and event reports for relevant
application.
Assisting with the implementation of new processes, tools and/or techniques.
Complying with all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Providing technical support and working as part of the STP team with engineering,
operations, maintenance and other department personnel to promote overall plant
reliability, performance and safety.
Requirements
Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to South Texas Project Electric
Generating Station.
U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
Currently enrolled in a 4 year institution of higher education and pursuing a BS or MS in
one of the desired disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Nuclear).
Proficiency
in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Proficient verbal & written communication skills, and presentation skills.
Must be in good academic standing with your school.
