Volunteer Opportunity: Summer Dance Instructor (Volunteer)

Organization: Young Debs Inc.

Program: Summer Dance Program

Time Commitment: 2 hours per week for 4 weeks (total 8 hours)

Location: Baltimore Metro Area" / "In-person"

Role Overview

Young Debs Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic and dependable Volunteer Dance Instructor to support our Summer Dance Program for youth. This volunteer will help students build confidence, coordination, discipline, and teamwork through engaging dance instruction in a positive and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead weekly dance instruction for youth participants
  • Teach basic to intermediate dance technique and choreography (style based on instructor expertise)
  • Support students with learning routines and improving performance skills
  • Create a fun, encouraging, and structured learning space
  • Reinforce professionalism, respect, and teamwork during sessions
  • Collaborate with the Young Debs Inc. team regarding lesson goals and student progress

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching dance (formal or informal)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with youth
  • Positive attitude, patience, and reliability
  • Ability to manage a small group while keeping students engaged
  • Background in styles such as hip hop, ballet, jazz, contemporary, stepping, majorette, or cultural dance is a plus
