POSITION: Summer Site Director - Multiple positions open
Extended Day Summer Camp Program
Miller Elementary School
Seasonal position from June 15th, 2026, through August 14th or 21st, 2026, dependent on school start date.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. High School graduate.
  2. Minimum of 60 hours of college coursework, including 12 hours in child development.
  3. Previous experience working with school-age children.
  4. Demonstrate aptitude and/or competence working with school-age children.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Primary staff member responsible for planning and implementing a summer program which provides for physical activities, self-expression through arts and crafts, play, and socialization with peers.
  2. Work cooperatively with the summer team, Program Coordinator, and building staff to share space cooperatively during the summer camp program.
  3. Maintain program equipment and supplies, and maintain an up-to-date inventory list.
  4. Develop effective communication with the parents of children enrolled in the program.
  5. Provide a safe, nurturing, child-oriented environment and meet Environmental Health guidelines regarding cleanliness.
  6. Assist Program Coordinator in ensuring the site meets DHS licensing regulations.
  7. Complete all appropriate paperwork, including but not limited to lesson plans, purchase order requisitions, attendance records, accident reports, and contact logs.
  8. Supervise off-site summer field trips to various locations in the area. Includes active participation in all swimming field trips.
  9. Other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

This is a summer position only, not covered under the PCEDA (union) agreement.
BEGINNING DATE: June 15th through August 14th or 21st, depending on school start date.
Reports to: Program Coordinator
Rate of Pay: $19.90 - $22.60 per hour
HOURS: Monday-Friday 11:45 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
(Plus additional hours for field trips)
(Training and set up prior to June 15, 2026, approximately 10 hours)
An additional 1 hour of planning per week
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Upon recommendation for employment, the applicant must be fingerprinted under the Revised School Code (MCL 380.1230a) and under the Child Care Organizations Act (MCL 722.111). The fingerprinting is conducted by a third party and is at the expense of the applicant. The cost for fingerprinting is approximately $70.00.
An additional set of Fingerprints required for LARA cost is approximately $60. Fee is reimbursed.
