TITLE: Lead Custodian Full-time (Night Shift) - Hurricane Deck Elementary
Position Summary:
The job goal of these positions are to provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop and to support an on-going custodial instructional program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Pass all background checks and screenings.

REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Building/Grounds
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Board Policy for Staff Conduct
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervises all other night custodians in the building.
  • Communicates directly with the Day Lead custodian any concerns regarding building maintenance, immediate needs, and special events or set ups.
  • Assists the Day Lead custodian in scheduling custodial staff to cover all events throughout the year.
  • Communicates directly with Day Shift Lead, Principal, and secretary, receiving information regarding special events, set ups, concerts, cleanups, etc
  • Demonstrates appropriate safety, handling, storage and marking techniques of all cleaning products and sterilizing chemicals.
  • Thoroughly cleans assigned runs in specified parts of the building.
  • Periodically inspects all cleaning runs and restrooms and gives feedback to night custodians when necessary.
  • Move furniture and equipment as required for various activities.
  • Replace light bulbs in classrooms and corridors as needed.
  • Keep grounds free from rubbish to maintain buildings in an attractive state.
  • Remove snow and ice and apply salt/ ice melt at all entrance ways.
  • Assist the Day Lead in the supervision of the custodial staff during the summer cleaning cycle.
  • Perform and or supervise other appropriate duties as assigned.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to climb a ladder.

Additional Duties:
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Building Principal and other Central Office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Scheduled Work Days: 178 days; 8.0 hrs / day. Does not include a 30 minute lunch.
  • Pay range: Begins at $16.10 and is commensurate with experience.
  • Benefits include Board paid health insurance, paid sick leave, retirement and other.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Support Staff
