It is located in the beautiful Miami Lakes, Florida and has been one of South Florida’s premier fitness and wellness centers since 1982. Our staff is dedicated to improving the “quality of life” of our members and the community of Miami Lakes.

Job Description

We are looking for energetic Summer Camp Counselors who enjoy working with children to join our Camp Team. Camp Counselors are responsible for the overall day to day group programming, behavior management, and direct supervision and safety of a group of 2 - 30 participants / children. This includes planning and implementing camp activities in accordance with both age and developmentally appropriate practices as outlined by our schedules and guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide safety and supervision to all program participants and ensure that activities are planned and followed.
  • Maintain coordination with facility personnel for safety and benefit of participants in the program.
  • Ensure that safety rules and practices are followed as they relate to children and staff.
  • Document all necessary administrative forms as directed by Youth Programs Coordinator or Camp Assistant Director.
  • Complete and maintain accurate daily attendance.
  • Distribute and supervise lunch and snack time daily using universal health/sanitation practices.
  • Document behavioral issues and/or incidents daily, as needed.
  • Maintain high level of professionalism at all times with parents, facility personnel, staff, and participants.
  • Uphold all Miami Lakes Athletic Club policies and Risk Management / Safety procedures which require reporting all incident and accidents to the Youth Programs Coordinator or Camp Assistant Director immediately.
  • Know and follow proper emergency procedures appropriate to the facility and in conformity with procedures adopted by the Miami Lakes Athletic Club to ensure the safety of children.
  • Monitor and maintain the quality of supplies and materials. Report to Youth Programs Coordinator or Camp Assistant Director when supplies are needed.
  • Provide regular inspection of area used by the program to ensure both cleanliness and safety.
  • Check bathrooms for supplies and basic cleanliness before allowing participants to enter.
  • Attend all staff meetings and training opportunities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one to two (4 or more) years’ experience of working with school aged children
  • Ability to relate to children.
  • The counselor must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing.
  • CPR / First-Aid Certification

  • Seasonal Full-Time Position
  • Monday – Friday
  • 7:30 am -6:00 pm (Schedule Varies)
