Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:ย  Responsible for maintaining all food service equipment and warehousing operations for Douglas County Schools.
PAY GRADE:ย  246 ย Day Professional/Technical/Supervisory Non-Administrator Salary Schedule - Salary Range:ย  $52,084.00 to $72,027.00.ย  Salary placement will be based on Douglas County Board of Education approved salary schedules and years of verified experience.
FLSA STATUS:ย Exempt
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:ย  246 Days (12 Month)
REPORTS TO:ย  Executive Director of School Nutrition
EDUCATION LEVEL:ย  Educational Level:ย  Minimum high school diploma with formal education or supervised on-the-job training in the areas of:









  1. mechanical equipment
  2. gas and electric heating units
  3. refrigeration
  4. warehousing and distribution systems
  5. factory certified training in the areas of steam heated cooking equipment, boiler replacement and commercial baking and cooking appliances
    EXPERIENCE:ย  Minimum of five years experience in repair and maintenance in warehousing operations.
    CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:ย  Preference will be given to individuals:ย Certified refrigerant technician in accordance with E.P.A. ย  CFR.ย  82



    Georgia Commercial Drivers License.
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: ย Heavy Work -ย Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds or force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.ย  Must be able to climb ladders and lift equipment up to 100 pounds.ย  Sedentary Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
    PROFICIENT SKILLS: ย Ability to plan, schedule and supervise the repair of all types of food service equipment; to plan, schedule and supervise all aspects of a warehousing and distribution system.




    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  6. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.

    Responsible for installation, maintenance and repair of all food service equipment with the assistance of an equipment mechanic.

    Schedule and supervise an extensive preventive maintenance program for food service equipment.

    Maintain parts, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition. Ensures School Nutrition vehicles are maintained as required.

    Plan and execute summer schedule for programmed major repairs and equipment overhauls.

    Schedule any services performed by contract companies. (i.e. - exhaust hood system maintenance, equipment installation, warranty repair work, etc.)

    Advise the Executive Director of School Nutrition on matters pertaining to equipment acquisition or major repairs.

    Maintain a daily log of maintenance activities including parts used reporting through FMX program.

    Schedule and supervise warehousing and distribution of food, supplies and equipment.

    Maintain accurate and timely accountability records for purchases and inventories via computer entries. Keep the Executive Director of School Nutrition informed of warehouse inventories status and compliance with Federal warehousing regulations.ย  Make recommendations for improvements when needed.

    Monitor safety issues and make recommendations for improvements.

    Work with School Nutrition support staff to support the surplus sale of equipment.

    Monitoring of kitchen equipment and refrigeration units for all school sites and warehouses for the purpose of ensuring that items are operating in a safe and efficient manner.ย  Respond to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

    Train and supervise warehouse personnel and equipment mechanics.

    Participate in meetings and training for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.

    Perform additional responsibilities as assignedย by the Executive Director of School Nutrition.
