Position Title: Substation Automation Engineer
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/Week
Summary of Duties: Design, implement, and maintain automation systems and associated equipment for power substations. Configure and test RTU/PLC for protection and controls schemes of Medium and High Voltage substations systems. Develop new application solutions with IEC61850 or other communication protocols relevant in the energy automation field. Design and support elaboration of Control Logic Diagrams, System Network Architecture, Signal Lists, Functional Design Specifications documents during design phase of the project. Prepare and execute (FAT) Factory Acceptance Test procedures & testing environments for customer projects. Prepare and execute (SAT) Site Acceptance Test procedures and commissioning scripts for customer projects. Be a technical leader in projects or lead other team members in project activities. Be one of our primary customer interfaces, including trouble shooting and commissioning support. Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including design, implementation, and commissioning phases. Up to 50% domestic travel required. Hybrid work permitted.
Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered, or as an Automation Engineer, System Engineer, or an acceptable alternate occupation. The position requires three (3) years of experience with the following: Experience with power systems; Experience executing large projects; Commissioning experience with Siemens P&A (Protection & Automation Systems) products; Ability to read and fully understand DC and AC schematics, and three- and one-line diagrams for Medium and High Voltage substations systems; Relay or automation products and associated software; Communication network technologies, including design and hardware configuration; Communication protocols such as IEC61850 (MMS/GOOSE/SMV), DNP, Modbus, IEC103, IEC101, IEC104, Profinet, or Profibus; Control and protection commissioning experience; Factory and site testing experience in automation and control systems. Up to 50% domestic travel required. Hybrid work permitted.
