Per Diem Position

La Amistad Behavioral Health Services (LBHS) has been an industry leader in providing quality care for almost 50 years and is seeking a certified substance abuse counselor for our Adult Program. This role is responsible for providing group counseling and support services to clients recovering from addiction to substance, drugs or alcohol. The position is responsible for the overall design and implementation of the facility's substance abuse group services in Residential, Partial, and our daytime Intensive Outpatient programs, following La Amistad program philosophy. The counselor will also coordinate with community partners, connecting our clients with off-site resources. Duties include evaluating and treating patients' mental health through group therapy, collaborating with treatment team members, and providing support to our clients.
Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate multiple daily group sessions, as indicated by Director of Clinical Services and Adult Program Manager
  • Complete documentation requirements as outlined in facility program policies
  • Provide appropriate interventions to facilitate the engagement of non-compliant clients
  • Assess clients substance dependency status ongoing
  • Advise treatment team/clients in how best to understand patients' struggles and provide support during the recovery process
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field required, Master's Degree preferred
  • Florida state licensure or certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor required (Certified Recovery Support Specialist, Certified Addiction Counselor, or Certified Addiction Professional)
  • Knowledge of 12-Step program/SMART Recovery
  • Experience in group counseling and addiction treatment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Valid Florida Driver's License
  • Minimum of two years' experience in direct patient care preferred
