Substance Use Counselor
Location: Maxwell Gardens (Orlando, Florida)
Pay: Masters starting rate: $26.44 per hour or Licensed starting rate: $27.64 per hour
Job Type: Part-Time / Non-Exempt

The Substance Use Counselor provides outpatient substance use treatment services at the Pathlight HOME campus and drop-in center. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and delivering individual and group counseling focused on recovery and relapse prevention. The clinician provides crisis intervention, case management, and care coordination with housing staff, healthcare providers, and community partners.
What You'll Do:
  • Conduct thorough clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine client's substance use and mental health needs
  • Implement crisis intervention techniques to manage acute behavioral health episodes effectively while ensuring client safety.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, family members and community resources including Pathlight HOME staff to coordinate comprehensive care plans tailored to each client's unique circumstances.
  • Refer individuals to supportive community services and resources as appropriate; document in client record
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with Housing staff, community agencies and partner organizations.
  • Communicate with client referral source or support workers, to notify them of the intake, discharge, or dead file via required monthly summaries and other communication measures, as appropriate.
  • Consult with community providers for coordination of care and treatment planning.
  • Complete required trainings and maintain all credentialing requirements as outlined by IMPOWER, funders, and accreditation bodies

What You'll Need:
  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling or a human services related field from an accredited college or university
  • CAP, MCAP, LCSW, LMFT or LMHC credentialing required
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience providing substance use and/or co-occurring treatment; or demonstrated understanding of addiction, recovery principles and Stages of Change
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or in community-based setting strongly preferred.
  • Valid drivers license and auto insurance, and successful motor vehicle driving record background check
  • Negative result from a multi panel drug screen
