Social Media Video Editor
Study.com is a leading online education platform helping millions of learners-from students and teachers to working adults-achieve their educational goals. We're expanding our social video presence across YouTube and TikTok and are seeking a skilled Video Editor to help bring engaging, high-quality educational videos to life. This is an online, remote contract role. All work is paid per piece.
Project Description
As a Video Editor for Study.com, you'll collaborate closely with our project teams and on-camera presenters to produce professional, platform-specific videos that inform, entertain, and inspire learners worldwide.
Your work will include editing long-form YouTube content and short-form TikTok content while following brand guidelines and ensuring excellence in storytelling, pacing, and visual engagement.
  • Edit raw footage into 5-20 minute videos optimized for YouTube as well as 1-3 minute videos optimized for TikTok.
  • Follow Study.com's brand and style guidelines across both platforms.
  • Source or create copyright-safe visuals, music, and sound effects.
  • Add text overlays, motion graphics, and visual enhancements tailored to platform formats.
  • Collaborate with content producers to ensure final videos meet quality standards and project briefs.
  • Apply best practices for pacing, storytelling, and engagement specific to YouTube and TikTok audiences.
  • Organize project files, maintain clear version control, and deliver edits within specified turnaround timelines.

Required Skills:
  • 2+ years of video editing experience, including social media and long-form content (e.g., YouTube and TikTok) editing.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in both short-form and long-form video editing.
  • Proficiency with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve).
  • Ability to create engaging visual narratives and dynamic motion graphics.
  • Solid understanding of platform formatting, pacing, and audience engagement.
  • Knowledge of copyright-safe media sourcing and licensing practices.
  • Reliable turnaround and time-management skills.

Additional Preferred Skills:
  • Degree or coursework in film, video production, digital media, or related field.
  • Experience working with workflow tools like Wistia, Smartsheet, or comparable project systems.
