Job description

JOB SUMMARY
The Broadcast Technician supports live productions by operating and configuring video switching systems such as Ross or Blackmagic, managing signal routing, and ensuring smooth execution of broadcasts and recordings. This role collaborates with directors and technical teams in fast-paced environments to deliver high-quality results. Responsibilities include creating motion graphics in Adobe After Effects, managing media playback with ProPresenter, and assisting with audio-video integration, including synchronization and latency. Working within complex SDI, NDI, and IP-based systems, the technician troubleshoots issues in real time, maintains organized workflows, and ensures reliable performance under pressure with strong attention to detail and teamwork.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Live Production & Switching
  • Operate and configure Ross or Blackmagic video switching systems for live events, broadcasts, and recordings
  • Manage input/output mapping, signal routing, multiviews, and show configurations
  • Collaborate with camera operators, directors, and technical staff during live productions
  • Graphics, Animation & Media Playback
  • Design, animate, and deploy motion graphics using Adobe After Effects
  • Create and manage graphic assets for live shows, broadcast, and digital platforms
  • Support media playback and presentation workflows using ProPresenter
  • Audio & Technical Integration
  • Understand and support audio mixing fundamentals, including gain staging, signal flow, and live mix coordination
  • Collaborate with audio engineers to ensure clean integration between audio and video systems
  • Assist with synchronization, latency management, and system timing where applicable
  • Systems Engineering & Technical Operations
  • Work confidently within complex engineering environments involving:

- Video/audio routing and patching
- Network-based systems (NDI, SDI, IP workflows)
- Mapping, labeling, and documentation of signal paths
  • Troubleshoot issues under live production conditions with calm precision
  • Assist in system setup, upgrades, testing, and technical documentation

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Regular full-time, expected to work weekend services and all call events, with evenings as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to do the following:
  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods during live productions and events
  • Must be able to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Work with cables, rigs, and technical gear in studio or on-site environments
  • May also involve working in low-light conditions, navigating tight spaces, and maintaining focus under physically and mentally demanding situations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Experience with Ross or Blackmagic video switching systems
  • Proficiency in Adobe After Effects
  • Working knowledge of ProPresenter
  • Understanding of audio mixing concepts and live sound workflows
  • Graphic design experience (Adobe Creative Suite preferred)
  • Ability to navigate complex routing, mapping, and signal flow environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in broadcast, live event production, or house-of-worship environments
  • Familiarity with:
  • Ross ecosystems (Acuity, Ultrix, XPression, etc.)
  • Blackmagic ATEM workflows
  • Networked video/audio systems (NDI, Dante, IP video)
  • Motion design or animation experience beyond basic templates
  • Technical documentation or system-diagram experience

WORK ENVIRONMENT
