Student information
What is the difference between Student vs Intern?
| Aspect | Student | Intern |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Enrolled in an educational program | Typically students or recent graduates |
| Work Environment | Educational settings, part-time or temporary roles | Workplace, often in a company or organization |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Educational institutions, some companies | Businesses, organizations offering practical experience |
| Search & Comparison Intent | Understanding entry-level or learning roles | Gaining practical experience or assessing career options |
In summary, students are primarily enrolled in educational programs and may work part-time or in temporary roles, often within educational settings. Interns are usually recent graduates or students seeking practical experience in a workplace environment. While both roles involve learning, internships typically offer hands-on work experience in a professional setting, making them more directly related to career development.

What Are Student Jobs?
"Student job" is the general term given to jobs that will fit with a full-time student’s schedule. Such jobs may be seasonal, coinciding with school vacations, or part-time. Other jobs, like restaurant work, are a good fit for students since the busiest time for a restaurant is often in the evening and on weekends. Having some work experience as a student, whether in your future professional field or not, makes strong evidence on your resume of your work ethic. Former employers can also serve as references for future jobs or write recommendation letters for college applications.

COMPETITION NUMBER: 1703
CLOSING DATE: July 24, 2026 @ 11:59 PM MDT
ENROLMENT OPERATIONS AND REGISTRAR
Reporting to the Team Lead, Student Recruitment, the Student Recruiter plays a key role in supporting college enrolment targets by developing and implementing strategies that convert domestic prospective students into applicants. The role focuses on raising awareness of the college's programs among both prospective students and community influencers, while supporting a key domestic target demographic identified in NorQuest's recruitment strategy. The Student Recruiter is also responsible for evaluating the effectiveness, efficiency, and reach of recruitment initiatives and continuously enhancing strategies to meet evolving enrolment goals.
In this role, the Student Recruiter builds and maintains strong relationships with community stakeholders to develop a sustainable pipeline of learners. They actively represent the college by attending and hosting recruitment events such as trade and career shows, information sessions, campus tours, and Open Houses. The position also involves providing accurate and engaging information about programs, admission requirements, and student services-including assessment, learner supports, and financial aid-to help prospective students make informed decisions. Through ongoing participation in both internal and external initiatives, the Student Recruiter promotes and elevates the profile of NorQuest College within the community.
HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
- Collaborate with the Senior Student Recruiter and Team Lead to design, implement, and evaluate recruitment strategies that effectively reach targeted learner populations and support enrolment goals
- Recruit prospective students through presentations, information sessions, community outreach, recruitment events, social media platforms, and one-on-one engagement
- Establish, develop, and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, educational partners, government-funded agencies, Indigenous communities, and other key stakeholders to encourage referrals and promote the college as an institution of choice
- Respond to prospect and influencer inquiries regarding programs, admission requirements, student services, career pathways, and college information, while connecting individuals to appropriate resources and supports
- Capture, track, and nurture prospective student leads through the CRM system, maintaining accurate records and supporting lead-to-applicant conversion activities
- Organize, coordinate, and participate in recruitment events, including open houses, information nights, college tours, career fairs, education fairs, trade shows, and community events
- Develop and deliver engaging presentations and outreach activities to small and large audiences using a student-focused marketing and recruitment approach
- Build and maintain positive working relationships across the college and with external partners to communicate program information, support learner pathways, and enhance recruitment efforts
- Monitor recruitment activity, enrolment trends, labour market information, and conversion data to evaluate outcomes and inform recruitment planning and reporting
- Participate in cross-functional committees and initiatives, support the distribution of recruitment materials, and contribute to recruitment activities that require travel, evening, and weekend availability
WHAT YOU BRING
- Completion of a university degree. In the absence of a degree, a post-secondary diploma and 2 - 3 years directly related experience will be considered
- 2 - 3 years of experience in admissions, student services, recruitment, customer service, or sales, preferably in a post-secondary environment
- Demonstrated experience in public speaking, public relations, and delivering presentations to diverse audiences, with strong oral and written communication skills
- Superior interpersonal skills, including relationship building, tact, diplomacy, discretion, and a commitment to exceptional customer service
- Experience using CRM systems, social media platforms, and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint at an intermediate-to-advanced levelÂ
- Strong organizational, time management, event management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of post-secondary education, entrance requirements, career pathways, and learner recruitment practices is considered a strong asset
- Ability to respond effectively to changing priorities and travel requirements; possession of a valid driver's license and vehicle, availability for evenings and weekends, and ability to speak a second language are considered assets
- The ability to pass a basic criminal record check
WHAT MAKES YOU A DIFFERENCE MAKER?
As a difference maker, you bring experience in:
- Serve as an ambassador for the college by building and maintaining relationships with prospective students, influencers, schools, community partners, and external stakeholders that positively impact the college's image, reputation, enrolment, and student retention
- Contribute to the achievement of enrolment targets, revenue objectives, and domestic recruitment plans by influencing prospective students' decision-making through exemplary customer service and recruitment activities
- Coordinate faculty, staff, students, and alumni in support of domestic recruitment and community outreach initiatives, without direct supervisory responsibility
- Collaborate regularly with program areas, the Office of the Registrar, Customer Experience, Student Financial Aid, Student Advisors, the Students' Association, and Brand teams to support recruitment efforts and ensure accurate, timely information is communicated
- Build and maintain strong external relationships with schools, community organizations, influencers, and other partners, serving as a key point of contact and ensuring ongoing follow-up and engagement
- Position NorQuest College as the institution of choice for prospective students and influencers by demonstrating a professional, sales-driven approach and acting as a referral point to appropriate college services
- Exercise critical thinking, initiative, and independent judgment to prioritize competing demands, plan and host events, deliver presentations, respond to inquiries, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Interpret and apply college policies, procedures, admission requirements, and program information; use discretion to escalate issues as required and provide recommendations to support continuous improvement
