Job description

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the incumbent may perform some or all of the listed general administration functions. These functions are of high complexity and the incumbent performs them using general instruction.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manages recruitment kiosks alone or with a team member, both off campus and on campus, and online and in-person, at higher education fairs hosted by high schools throughout the Greater Montreal area.
  • Participates in in-person student panels and information sessions, as well as "Talk with a McGill Student" sessions- virtual one-on-one conversations with prospective and newly admitted students.
  • In collaboration with the McGill Recruitment team, participates in on-campus and virtual recruitment events for prospective students from Quebec high schools and CEGEPS as well as their families and guidance counselors.
  • Responds to questions about McGill student life, available student resources, internships, exchange programs, and Quebec-specific application requirements and deadlines..
  • Provides administrative support for recruitment activities and events, including setting up and taking down signage, managing recruitment kiosks, providing written feedback on events, equipment and furniture, completing data entry, and other related tasks.
  • Conducts research via social media and internet searches. Participates in social media campaigns and events including Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. Some video and photo editing may be required.

The list of functions outlined above is representative and not a complete and detailed list of tasks which may be performed by an incumbent. For example, incumbent may be asked to perform some elements of Communications Assistant level "A" and/or "B" in addition to the above listed functions.


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

Have graduated from a French High School and/or French CEGEP. Bilingual: spoken and written French and English. Undergraduate student currently enrolled at McGill in Arts, Education, Engineering, Management, Music, Nursing or Science are welcome. General knowledge of the downtown campus and student life. Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently and initiate conversations with prospective students and their families. Outgoing, approachable, and enthusiastic, with a genuine interest in supporting and connecting with students. Adaptable and able to respond quickly and effectively to unexpected situations and changing circumstances (e.g., construction or changes to event locations on campus). Extremely reliable, punctual, and professional, with a strong commitment to representing McGill. Involvement in the McGill community through clubs, services, athletics, student organizations, or other university activities is considered an asset. Previous customer service experience is considered an asset. Experience with social media platforms and content creation is considered an asset. Additional language skills are considered an asset.
