Job description

Summary:

Dโ€™Youville University is seeking a Web Developer to serve as the primary owner of the Universityโ€™s web presence, overseeing content management, front-end development, and ongoing optimization. This role plays a critical part in ensuring our websites are accurate, engaging, high-performing, and aligned with institutional goals.

As part of the Marketing & Communications team, this individual will collaborate across departments to maintain and enhance the Universityโ€™s digital experience, with a primary focus on the main website and support for additional web properties.

Responsibilities:

Website Management & Content (Primary Focus)

  • Manage and maintain Dโ€™Youvilleโ€™s primary website and related web properties
  • Publish and update content (text, images, video, embeds) within the CMS (Drupal)
  • Apply SEO and LMM (Large Language Model) optimization best practices, including metadata, internal linking, structured formatting, and content organization
  • Conduct regular content audits to ensure accuracy, consistency, and performance
  • Collaborate with campus partners to gather updates and maintain current academic and program information
  • Ensure all web content aligns with institutional brand standards and messaging

Front-End Development & Technical Support

  • Develop and implement front-end enhancements using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Build and maintain Drupal templates, components, and modules
  • Support development within Slate, including landing pages and email templates
  • Troubleshoot and resolve website issues across web properties
  • Manage CMS performance, hosting, and uptime to ensure a reliable user experience
  • Maintain website security and respond to vulnerabilities or breaches as needed
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and applicable regulations

Performance & Optimization

  • Continuously improve site usability and functionality based on user behavior and feedback
  • Monitor SEO performance and search visibility
  • Track website analytics (e.g., Google Analytics) and recommend improvements to engagement and conversion

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience

Experience:

  • 2โ€“5+ years of experience managing and developing websites, preferably in a CMS environment (Drupal preferred)

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience publishing and managing structured content within a CMS
  • Strong understanding of SEO best practices and web usability principles
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across teams

Physical & Environmental:

  • Handle multiple tasks and priorities at once while solving problems and being innovative.
  • Must possess a student-centered personal philosophy.
  • Ability to work occasional evening or weekend hours
