Description
Come join our team as a Communications and Marketing Intern!
Under general supervision, the intern would assist the Communications and Marketing Division with:
  • Social media coordination
  • Content creation
  • Photography and videography
  • Basic photo and video editing
  • Website updates
  • Email newsletter content
  • Community outreach
  • City events
  • Other communications projects

The ideal candidate should have prior photography and/or videography experience, understand basic camera functions, and be familiar with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite-particularly Premiere Pro and Photoshop.
The position may require occasional evening and weekend work for events and content gatherings.

Examples of Duties
  • Coordinate and schedule social media content.
  • Draft social media captions and other short-form public information materials.
  • Capture photos and videos at City events, programs, meetings, facilities, and other locations.
  • Perform basic photo and video editing.
  • Create and edit basic digital graphics in Canva.
  • Organize and maintain digital media files.
  • Monitor social media and identify questions or comments requiring staff follow-up.
  • Assist with website updates and email newsletter content.
  • Support community outreach and special events.
  • Conduct research and assist with other communications projects.

Part-time employees are non-benefited, at-will positions. Part-time employees are enrolled in the PARS retirement system with the City making an employer contribution and the employee contribution (6.2%) being deducted from your payroll check. The PARS retirement system is in lieu of participating in social security. You will, however, participate in the Medicare portion of social security as that is a required program.
