Job description
Volunteer, project-based opportunity to support real Federal missions, and gain experience. Students must be enrolled no less than half-time in an accredited trade school, technical/vocational institute, junior college, college, university, or other accredited institution.
With this project, you will participate in ANG-E15 Laboratory Maintenance Branchs (LMB) support with the Divisions Infrastructure Master Plan, in installation and integration of FAA communications systems.

The Student Trainee will
- Perform Cable Installation and Terminations - Students will learn about the different types of cabling, what they are used for and how to terminate them for connection to FAA systems.
- Perform configuration changes and software modifications to FAA communications equipment - Students will learn how the FAA Communications Systems software functions and how changes are made; Students will gain experience with software installations and high level programming configurations.
- Provide Communications System testing support for new IPVCS(Internet Protocol Voice Communications System) testing between new IP voice systems and legacy FAA voice systems. - Students will gain hands on experience testing communications systems. Hands on Testing includes: Basic network connectivity testing, Air-to-Ground Radio testing, Ground-to-Ground trunk testing
The student will perform selected on the job assignments and receive instruction on agency or departmental goals, objectives, regulations, procedures, occupational hazards, safety standards, inspection techniques and work processes.
APPOINTMENT: If selected, your volunteer role may not exceed a total of 120 days after completing educational requirements. Participation in this program may be terminated at any time.
AGREEMENT: All participants must sign a written Volunteer Service Agreement with their manager that clearly identifies expectations of the appointment such as duties, length of appointment, work schedule, training, mentorship etc.

- Commit to volunteering 8 - 20 hours per week for a minimum of 90 days.
- Be enrolled not less than half-time in an accredited trade school, technical or vocational institute, junior college, college, university, or other accredited educational institution.
- Agree to volunteer. This position is unpaid. No compensation, stipends, or hiring preference will be granted from this work. You may use this volunteer experience to qualify for future jobs you choose to apply for.
- Be in good academic standing as defined by your institution.
