Job description

Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is looking for a dedicated Perioperative Supervisor to join the team. This position will be full-time day shift: Monday-Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm

Perioperative Support Supervisor Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that all staff competencies are up to date while helping the Perioperative Support Manager or other designated leader maintain established performance expectations for staff by encouraging staff development, growth and facilitating the positive discipline process should problems arise.
  • Proactively reviews surgical schedule and works with Clinical Management, Perioperative Service Line Leaders, and Charge Nursing staff to ensure correct equipment and/or supplies are available and operational for surgical cases.
  • Ensures that sales representatives are aware of their roles within the operating room and addresses any infractions of system/department policy. Proactively communicates system/department policies to the vendor community.
  • Provides clinical educational programs to staff related to safety equipment handling. Applies system-thinking and infection control principles to solve problems and troubleshoot technology and equipment.
  • Partners with Materials Management, Shipping and Receiving, Environmental Services, Engineering, and Biomedical departments to ensure a supportive and collaborative management model for ancillary services.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education - High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Certification - American Heart Association Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire
  • Experience - 3 years of Operating Room with working knowledge of Perioperative equipment systems, supplies allocation, shipping/receiving, standard office/computer tools and Materials Management Information Systems.
